Peel Sound, Canada, September 6th: a small flag for man, a giant step for Earth Today

Where to start when it comes to Earth Today? From a mysterious entity in which our captain Clemens is 100% invested, a sponsor whose stakeholders we met in Dutch Harbour or had a chat with on Facebook, Earth Today became a strong reality in our project.

Whilst most of us joined for the adventure, the almost mythical Northwest Passage, the sailing experience, we gradually became aware – and more or less invested – in Earth Today through the course of the journey.

Earth Today is a non-for-profit organisation with a mission to change how our societies, our species interact with one another and with our planet Earth.

Earth Today gave our planet an identity, a flag: as all of us have a national identity we are attached to, our mission was to raise the flag for Earth and create an identity which can unite us all as inhabitants of Earth.

As our attempt to go north was quickly going south, the perfect iceberg was found to raise the flag for Earth Today, a two-day awesome mission that took all twenty crew and resulted in a fantastic experience for all of us.

Photos by Andy Jamieson (for the good ones) and myself.

Yours for Earth Today,

Vicou the Sea Gypsy
